Oct 11th 2015 : Berrima Run

SENSATIONAL WEATHER FOR OCTOBER BERRIMA RUN

Despite early predictions of inclement weather, we set out from Casula on a perfect spring morning for a run down the Hume Freeway on our new leaderless Way Point system for our first stop at Pheasant’s Nest.

With two other members meeting us there, we set out after refreshments with ten cars, diverting immediately to take the old Hume Hwy through Bargo and on to Yerrinbool before turning off at Mittagong for a diversion through rolling hills and beautiful country scenery to make our second stop at Bowral’s Centennial Vineyards Winery.

Cool climate wine tasting led to some purchases and after a few essential photo opportunities, the run continued a relatively short distance into Berrima to find adequate parking for our cars at the south end of the village.

We were joined there by Bowral residents Steve and Tatiana with their R171 who had seen the event notice on SLK World, sought us out and after passing in the opposite direction as we drove into the village, followed to the parking area and joined us for lunch.  So in total, eleven cars and very convivial group sharing tales in the pub. A coffee stop at Stones Patisserie later and some shop hopping and then we gradually departed. Possible afternoon thunderstorms had been forecast, but they arrived late and with a whimper.

A sensational day and great country roads in the best possible company.
